| Abstract |
ABSL has encountered requirements for multiple years of cell wet life prior to launch in a number of space battery specifications. ABSL research suggested that this requirement could have been present in the battery specifications for a number of different chemistries over the last twenty years. This suggests it might not be relevant for Lithium-ion. This paper describes analysis performed by ABSL to gauge the benefit of minimizing Li-ion wet life compared to other factors such as the effect on EOL performance and comparative importance of proper post-delivery handling to potentially aid the evolution of Li-ion battery requirements. |
