Since the first launch in 2000, this decade has brought a number of changes within the industry, particularly in terms of the type of applications for which Lithium-ion has been used, the drivers for selection and attention to safety. At the close of the first decade of Lithium-ion space battery technology, this paper looks back on the trends that have become apparent and makes predictions on the future of the technology as it continues to be infused in more and more missions.
